Luke’s Lobster Hires Gusto Point of Sale as Their Deck-Hand

December 19, 2017

BETHESDA, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Luke’s Lobster, a New York based restaurant group, has chosen Dovetail Systems Inc’s, Gusto Point of Sale (POS), to help serve customers Maine inspired fresh seafood dishes. A strong partnership has formed and is facilitating the needs for Luke’s Lobster’s future growth.

Steve Song, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Luke’s Lobster, explains why they chose Gusto POS, “Previously, we were on a legacy POS system which we could not centrally manage. We had to engage various outside third parties to make menu changes, extract POS data and re-process missed credit card batches. So, as we looked to the future, we were seeking another POS system that would offer detailed transparency, multi-partner inter-connectivity and ability for user-friendly mass-menu customization. That combination would allow our Operations, Finance and Marketing teams to truly collaborate in real time with special promotions and offerings that would further boost our growing same store sales.”

Luke’s Lobster evaluated several different POS vendors, but Gusto quickly distinguished itself by treating Luke’s Lobster like VIP partners. Steve continues, “Just being nice would not have been enough to justify such a core decision. Gusto has the right combination of (a) product capabilities that suited our payment process and data analytical needs, (b) long-standing industry expertise, and most importantly, (c) responsive client service.” Gusto’s response to client questions in a timely manner with a plan in place helped further Luke’s Lobster’s decision to choose Gusto as their POS partner.

Gusto POS is taking the right steps to ensure Luke’s Lobster is set up for success with a strong core product and responsive client support. Gusto’s Niko Papademetriou, Vice President of Major Accounts and Business Development, says, “We have known the team at Luke’s for a few years now and have come to deeply understand their business. When the team began looking to streamline their enterprise and ready themselves for a digital presence, it was the right time for us to work together. Their team is like a family and we are honored to become a part of it.”

About Luke’s Lobster

Since its founding in 2009, Luke’s Lobster has repeatedly been hailed as the “best lobster roll” in New York City and around the country. The vision of Maine native and one-time lobsterman Luke Holden and partner Ben Conniff, Luke’s Lobster is a cozy seafood shack committed to serving simple dishes—including lobster rolls, crab rolls, shrimp rolls, clam chowder, lobster bisque, salads, poppy seed slaw and more—made with superior ingredients. From ocean to plate, Luke’s handles every step of the supply chain to ensure that only exceptionally fresh seafood is served.

Luke’s Lobster takes their mantra of “Taste the Source” to heart. Luke’s Lobster hand picks their lobster directly from the lobstermen at the dock and immediately cleans and steams it to preserve its freshness and quality. Luke Holden also led the charge to establish the Tenants Harbor Fisherman’s Co-op in Maine, the first fisherman’s co-op to be vertically integrated with a restaurant group and processing company. Every single lobster, crab and shrimp roll served in Luke’s Lobster can be traced back to the exact dock that it came from.
